Profile

Mai Yamaguchi specializes in 17th- to 19th-century (Edo period) Japanese art. She is interested in the relationship between image and text in ehon, Edo-period illustrated woodblock-printed books, as well as their reception in the Western world in the mid- to late 19th century. Mai received her B.A. in art history and French language and literature from the University of Chicago.
