Jessica Womack studies modern and contemporary art of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the United States, with a special focus on African Diasporic religious iconography and visual culture in postcolonial and post-revolutionary contexts. She is primarily interested in identity formation and performance, issues of diasporic blackness, and how visual culture in the Americas is intertwined with the politics of nation building and race. Jessica earned her AB degree in art history with high honors from Dartmouth College where she was a Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow. Prior to beginning her graduate studies at Princeton, Jessica held curatorial and programming positions at The Hood Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art.
